Avis Budget Group acquires Avis Europe plc. The transaction re-unites Avis Budget Group with its licensee for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. We became the only company in the world operating two global car rental brands, and the only company in Europe with both premium and value brands. Three operating regions are created: North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Latin America/Asia.

Avis Budget Group is further strengthening its presence in Hungary. The car rental company is creating as many as 235 new jobs by expanding its Business Support Centre (BSC). This year BSC is recognized as Investor of the Year – Business Expansion of the Year for Regional Centres.

Avis Budget Group BSC relocates to Green House office building that is the greenest commercial development project on the Hungarian office market, and the first one to certify for LEED Platinum with a top score. Also, the Group expands and acquires Zipcar and Payless Car Rental, furthermore enlarges its Business Support Centre (BSC) in Budapest by creating additional 150 new positions in the year, in which BSC celebrates its 10 years anniversary.

Avis Budget Group purchases Maggiore, Italy’s 1st self-drive car rental company. Its well-recognised AmicoBlu brand provides van rental. Maggiore was founded as a family business in 1947. Vittorio Maggiore and his sons, Giuseppe and Francisco run the business to success. Until 2014, Maggiore is the largest 100% Italian-owned firm.

Avis Budget Group acquires FranceCars, the second-largest light commercial vehicle fleet in France. It is also a key step in affirming the Company’s commitment to the local market, further increasing its ability to serve customers of all sizes, from entrepreneurs to multinationals to leisure travellers.
